Heh.  Last time I looked at RH (RH9), I wanted to remove portmapper 
since I don't use NFS.  So eventually that meant removing nautilus, 
which meant removing Gnome.  I did kind of want a desktop.

I had done a "give me whatever for a desktop" install.  I went back and 
did a "don't give me anything" install and was able to get Gnome 
installed without portmapper.  But it left a bad taste.
