[lug] Anyone else hate to get rid of old equipment?

Just curious about monitors.
How bad is it to dump the CRT in the dump? Not the PCB and other parts,
just the tube.
Yes it has lots of lead in the glass, but does it leach out, or does it
just stay in the glass and therefore is rather inert?
I don't know what is inside the CRT that may be bad, possibly mercury?
