Jeremy, I can't answer any of your technical questions but I can answer a
non-technical one. I have had Covad IDSL since last December, bundled with
Micron.net ISP. At the time, Qwest would not offer service but Covad would. I
think the reason may be (I'm guessing, and piecing together info from my
many, many conversations with Covad and Qwest field service technicians) that
Covad simply is willing to push the technology a little farther. Perhaps this
is a ploy to increase market share but it also works to the detriment of the
consumer. If I'd known how frequently the service was going to be down or
slow, I might have stayed with ISDN. Partly this is because we have very bad
copper in this neighborhood, but partly it seems to be because of my distance
from the CO (21000'). So if this is going to be something that you rely on to
run a business you may want to think about wireless options. If you plan to
run a business-critical web server, you probably want to think about getting
it hosted elsewhere.
