The University of Colorado will be webcasting today's Nobel prize press
conference honoring NIST Fellow Eric Cornell as a corecipient of the 2001
Nobel Prize in Physics! The webcast can be viewed today, Tuesday, October
9th at 9:45 am MDT at http://www.Colorado.EDU/NewsServices/nobel/

Eric shares the prize with Carl Wieman of the University of Colorado and
Wolfgang Ketterle of MIT. The Prize recognizes the three "for the
achievement of BoseEinstein condensation in dilute gases of alkali atoms,
and for early fundamental studies of the properties of the condensates."
Eric and Carl were the first to observe the BoseEinstein condesation in 1995.

Eric is a member of NIST's Quantum Physics Division in Boulder, Colorado,
and a Fellow of JILA, a joint institute between NIST's Physics Laboratory
and the University of Colorado.
