[lug] OT: solaris ldap authentication

I'm not sure where to turn (originally wrote run :).

I've googled my brains out.

I got stuck trying to make Solaris 8 authenticate against an openldap
server running locally.

I have users in the ldap directory and I can log in using those
usernames.

The problem, I can enter any password I want and get authenticated. 
root can finger the ldap users but no one else can.  The ldap users need
to be able to ssh from this box to another one, but ssh complains that
the ldap users don't exist.

Am I missing something obvious?
